Independent Medical Education (IME)

As part of our mission to address the unmet need for patients with central nervous system conditions, Axsome provides support for innovative, high-quality, independent educational initiatives that are designed to help close gaps in knowledge and awareness among US healthcare professionals (HCPs). The goals are to reduce healthcare disparities, improve patient health, address unmet needs, and enhance patient quality of life.

Explore IME for HCPs

Axsome provides financial support for IME including Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)-certified continuing medical education (CME, CE). Axsome defines IME for HCPs as any third-party education in which Axsome (or any commercial interest) has no control, influence, or involvement (i.e., independent). At Axsome, IME (certified/accredited and non-certified/non-accredited) is funded with an independent educational grant.

Eligibility Criteria

Acceptable Use of Support

Axsome may provide educational grants that support valuable medical, scientific, and educational information or activities directed towards healthcare professionals and patients.

Funding Accredited/Non-Accredited Independent Medical Education

Axsome may provide grants to support both accredited and non-accredited IME including but not limited to:

In-person and / or virtual programs or enduring materials produced or conducted by accredited providers to educate HCPs (e.g., CME)
Live learning opportunities such as grand rounds
Patient, caregiver, or community education programs
Written educational materials and publications

Adherence to Applicable Industry Standards

Axsome-supported IME also must strictly adhere to continuing education standards accredited by a national accrediting body such as the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Please note that meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee grant approval.
